Wood Burning Stoves & Inserts

Most all of the wood stoves we carry are EPA Certified. They can burn smoke and creosote inside the stove for fuel to heat your home. While is wood is essentially "baking", the smoke and creosote are burning. This means longer burn times with less wood than old fashioned stoves. Catalytic and non-catalytic alike will both have the secondary burn, they just do it in different ways. You can read more about this subject in our Hearth Articles section. The Vermont Castings Encore and Defiant models are the only stoves that come as a "2 in1". What this means is it is capable of burning in either catalytic on non-catalytic mode. It can be easily switched from one mode to the other in less than a minute. Both of the stoves are top loading. You can fill a top loading stove to nearly 100% so you don't have to load as often.

Our customers have chosen, based on their purchases, the Liberty as their favorite model of stove that we sell. We burnt the Liberty almost everyday last winter and only cleaned the ashes out THREE TIMES. Even though Lopi lists the heating capacity on the Liberty in its brochure as 2,500 square feet, our front showroom is 3,600 square feet and it heats every bit of it (including our offices way in the back, around corners and far away from the stove)! Not only will it heat our showroom, but it also gets very long burn times. We can leave the store on Saturdays about 7 - 8 pm and return on Sunday afternoon to find the store is still warm. Hot coals can still be found in the stove. We simply open the damper and the air control, add wood, and have a blazing fire again in a matter of minutes.

The Fire Chief is designed to be placed in your basement or attached garage and connect to your existing duct work for your central unit. There are many different sizes availabe to heat anywhere from 1,000 - 5,000 square feet. The huge firebox means less time you have to spend filling it up with wood. Although the Fire Chief is not EPA Certified, it does a wonderful job of heating your home. Options are available for heating your water as well. Both indoor and outdoor versions are available.
